Chile defeated Mexico 2-0 in a friendly match Tuesday in Los Angeles, with Maximiliano Gutiérrez scoring in the 54th minute and Vicente Pizarro adding a goal in the 65th minute.

The loss marks another difficult result for Mexico under coach Rafael Márquez. Mexico continues a stretch of poor form in North America. Chile, meanwhile, was itself coming off consecutive friendly defeats. The Chilean squad lost 1-0 to Canada and 4-2 to the United States in prior matches on the tour.
