Vegas Golden Knights forward Trevor Connelly scored in the fifth round of a shootout to lift the team past the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 on Thursday night in Las Vegas.
The Golden Knights erased a three-goal deficit to force overtime and then the shootout. Connelly, a rookie, beat Maple Leafs goalie Sergei Bobrovsky with a backhand-forehand deke before Vegas goalie Adin Hill stopped Toronto's John Tavares to clinch the win.
The victory marked Vegas' third consecutive win.
