Gen.G swept LYON 3-0 in Allen, Texas, in the second Worlds 2026 quarter-final, ending North America's last team's run at the tournament. The LCK top seed will face Invictus Gaming in a best-of-five semi-final on Saturday, starting at 16:00 Central Time.
Gen.G had the better record, which gave them first choice of side. They picked blue for game one and stayed on blue for games two and three.
Reaching the last four guarantees Gen.G at least third or fourth place. According to GosuGamers, the organisation has finished third or fourth at four of its last five Worlds and has never played in a Worlds final.
Invictus Gaming beat Top Esports 3-1 in the opening quarter-final, their first Worlds semi-final since 2019. TheShy and Rookie, who won Worlds with iG in 2018, are back in the last four.
Worlds 2026 has a US$5,000,000 prize pool. The champion takes US$1,000,000, and the runner-up receives US$800,000.
LYON finish in joint fifth to eighth place. GosuGamers called it the organisation's best Worlds finish. In four earlier appearances, LYON never placed higher than 17th.
With LYON out, North America will have no team in the semi-finals or the Grand Final.
The Grand Final is listed for 14:00 EST on 14 November. The British Esports Federation is holding a watch party at the British Arena in Sunderland, the venue's first esports watch party. It runs from 5:30pm on the day of the final until 1:00am on 15 November. The source says the arena covers 15,000 sq ft, has a 17-metre LED screen, a 200-seat viewing area and a bar, and offers discounted student tickets.
